For anyone living in the northern hemisphere, especially the UK, this time of year always poses a style conundrum, caused by our old friend the weather. While there are glimpses of spring popping out from behind the blanket of greyness way above our heads, any resemblance of warmth is fleeting at best. What is more likely is that the heavens could open at any given time. The only trouble is that our heavy woollen overcoats that did us proud throughout the winter are overkill come March and April, which is why it's prudent to switch your outerwear to something altogether more lightweight but with weather-fighting properties.
GRANDPA RAINCOAT |
That has always been the modus operandi for our Grandpa coat, the classic raincoat designed for trans-seasonal use. Cut in a heritage raincoat silhouette and with a spread collar, the Grandpa coat is one of the most versatile outerwear pieces we've ever made, perfect for those mercurial months of the year when your wardrobe and the weather are at loggerheads. The mid-length silhouette has been cut in an Italian technical water-repellent cloth that is extremely lightweight and breathable, perfect for those times when you experience four seasons in a day.
GRANDPA RAINCOAT |
This season, we've constructed it in two colourways - our Bickerton Navy and Bickerton Dark Olive - two easy-to-wear hues that will assimilate into any modern wardrobe with ease. The colours work well with similar tonal hues but you'll also find they make a great dark canvas to contrast with pops of colour such as brighter greens, blues, oranges and creams. The minimal style makes the Grandpa coat easy to layer with tailoring, whether traditional or a more relaxed style of sartorialism, but it's equally good styled with casualwear, such as our judo or drawstring trousers and a sweatshirt. You'll find yourself coming back to this coat time and time again.
