The Oliver Spencer Spring 2021 collection fixes its gaze out to the sea, referencing a coastal tradition that has long provided menswear with summer-bound silhouettes, patterns and colour palettes. The collection sees archetypal seaside tropes such as the Breton stripe reimagined in myriad ways, providing an easy-to-wear aesthetic for the modern wardrobe.

“This is a collection that felt very natural for me to create and one that I’ve been looking forward to for an age. Being locked down in the Isle of Wight for much of last year afforded me a great deal of sea gazing and I was really struck by how the colour palette of the coast changes with the elements. Of course, you have every hue of blue and green in the sea itself, but the shoreline is an amalgam of rich tones that shift with the elements.” – Oliver Spencer

The collection leans once again on a sustainable fabrication message that has long been a characteristic of Oliver Spencer collections, reflected by the widespread use of organic cottons and lightweight linen fabrics. There is an abundance of textural diversity woven into new and classic Oliver Spencer silhouettes, with soft, slubby linens contrasted with cotton seersucker and waffle knits. A key silhouette for the season is the Ryde Bomber jacket – a button-through play on the Harrington jacket – which has been produced in a number of different fabrications from seersucker and organic cotton to a check linen blend, making it easy and effortless to assimilate into any smart casual wardrobe.

The palette of the collection is cool and sophisticated, with the nautical double-act of navy and cream providing the jumping-in point for green and ochre tones to provide a warming summer aesthetic.
