When it comes to understanding the nuances and details of Oliver Spencer collections, Alfie is your man. Mr Marcus is Assistant Manager at our Berwick Street store in Soho and has a wealth of personal shopping experience stretching back over a decade (I know, he doesn't look young enough...), meaning he's perfectly placed to guide you through our seasonal collections to ensure you make the best purchase for your own individual aesthetic.
Today we're launching a brand new Personal Shopping service, where Alfie and the rest of the team will be on virtual hand (while our stores are closed due to covid restrictions) to help with any product queries you might have or styling tips and inspiration. The service is entirely free - all you need to do is click here to fill out a very brief form specifying your request and to arrange a consultation.
Once the government gives the green light for stores to reopen, the service will be available in store by appointment, where Alfie will be able to personally guide you through our garments and accessories and offer practical advice to help create a rounded, stylish wardrobe that best fits your own preferences.
We caught up with him to ask about his favourite pieces from the current collection. Over to Alfie...
SOLMS JACKET CLEVELAND TAUPE
CLERKENWELL TAB SHIRT WOBURN SKY BLUE
GRANDPA RAINCOAT PINO NAVY
"The Solms jacket is one of Oliver Spencer's classic pieces. I love it because you can wear it as a traditional three-button blazer, or you can also pop the collar and wear it buttoned up when it gets cold. This particular taupe style is cut from ecological wool meaning it hasn't been dyed so it's far better on the environment. The Clerkenwell Tab shirt in Woburn Sky Blue is one of those dependable wardrobe pieces that works with just about everything. I'm a big fan of the colour blue and all its different tones for exactly that reason. The Clerkenwell shirt also has a subtle tab fastening that keeps the neckline really clean. In terms of outerwear this season, the Grandpa coat has been my go-to style. Cut from a water-repellant technical cloth, it's really lightweight and has a slim silhouette. It's great for when you want to wear a couple of layers, because you won't overheat in it."
DOUBLE BREASTED JACKET VELVET CARDAMOM
TALBOT ROLL NECK JUMPER CABLE ECRU
PLEAT TROUSERS PENTON CORD GINGER
"Our double-breasted jacket in velvet cardamom is a nice tactile piece to slide into your winter tailoring. It works really well as a separate with dark trousers, but you can also wear it as a suit with matching fishtail trousers. Style it with a roll-neck or simply a spread collar shirt. Speaking of roll-necks, the Talbot jumper in ecru has been one of my favourite pieces throughout autumn - I love the unique cable-knit detail and it's just got that nice chunky weight to it. Texture is everything, especially if you stick to a tight colour palette, which is why I've selected our Pleat Trousers in Penton Cord Ginger. The pleats give them a classic tailored look and the ginger colour is easy to style with similar tones such as brown, beige, and cream."
HOCKNEY SHIRT JACKET PENTON CORD GINGER
NEW YORK SPECIAL SHIRT LINNET MULTI
BRITTEN CARDIGAN FAIRWAY NAVY
"The Hockney jacket is a perennial style for Oliver Spencer and this season it has been cut from the same Penton Cord Ginger cloth as the pleat trousers. You can wear them as a set if you like, but the Hockney is really versatile on its own. It's modelled on the traditional chore jacket so it's a key piece if you're into your workwear looks. Our New York Special shirt is a good piece to pair it with - a bold check to contrast the rich ginger tone. This shirt is unbelievably soft - it's made from a blend of organic cotton and Tencel, the latter of which is derived from wood pulp. My final pick is our Britten cardigan in Fairway Navy. I really like the polo shirt collar construction, plus the herringbone weave gives it an interesting textural finish. It's also woven from extrafine wool so while it's warm, it not overly heavy."
