Oliver Spencer has released an exclusive capsule collection with Mr Porter for Spring/Summer 2021, showcasing the brand’s relaxed tailoring aesthetic. Designed with summer occasions in mind, the capsule features new iterations of Spencer’s tailoring vision that offers contemporary comfort and sleek silhouettes in an array of innovative lightweight fabrics.
“Dressing for a summer occasion has always struck me as something of a perennial dilemma because it has traditionally been a trade off between looking smart or feeling comfortable, but I don’t think that should be the case. This capsule offers a more casual angle to tailoring, ideal for those weddings abroad or events at the height of summer, or for guys who simply prefer a more relaxed summer silhouette for smart occasions. I’ve removed the structure of the jackets so that they drape beautifully, and have cut them in a variety of cotton and linen fabrics for a really soft handle.” – Oliver Spencer
If 2020 was the year that the work uniform paradigmatically changed, then this capsule duly reflects the shift to a more relaxed contemporary tailoring style, with a lightweight, unstructured silhouette for those who prefer a more Italian bias to their suits and separates. The use of organic cotton and linen fabrics across a number of key pieces, such as an off-white double-breasted peak lapel jacket and a beautiful variation in a rich tan linen with a slubby handle, accentuate the sustainability of the capsule, which also uses an organic cotton seersucker fabric in a grandad collar shirt and short-sleeved shirt. Trouser styles are relaxed, eschewing the formal straight leg cut for a more casual, roomier silhouette.
The palette of the capsule sees pastel tones of cream and blue, punctuated with tobacco hues, making it extremely versatile and simple to assimilate into a modern, elegant wardrobe.
