We were thrilled to design the uniforms for the team at west London’s hottest new culinary tickets - Straker’s. Meet the the chef reaching for the stars.
There’s a new culinary maestro in London town and his name is Thomas Straker. If you’re a slave to youtube recipes and Instagram dishes, or prefer your tastebuds to be tantalised by Tiktok, then the name will already be very familiar to you. Raised on his family smallholding in Herefordshire, Tom is that new breed of foodie-cum-chef, honest, wholesome, and uncompromisingly respectful of Nature’s cycles and sustainable farming. Hunter, forager, and advocate of using the best seasonal ingredients that are cooked with simple technique, he has spent the last decade working in some of London’s top restaurants, and is now striking out on his own.
His eponymous venture, Straker’s, is pitched on Golborne Road in West London. Get yourself a reservation and make the trip over to Notting Hill, where you’ll not only be greeted with sublime food, but also a very stylish service team if we don’t say so ourselves. Yes, we just happened to design the uniform!
Fusing form and function, we appropriated our Hockney jackets, using a soft mint green hue to complement the Straker’s colour palette (which features corduroy seating and dark wooden panelling), and embroidered the Straker’s logo on the chest pocket. Constructed from a light-weight cotton and linen blend, the jackets feature patch pockets for storing pens and notepads.
It was a real pleasure to work with Thomas on this project, but the pleasure will be all yours if you manage to snag a reservation at the restaurant. Grilled langoustine with claw sauce tickle your taste buds? Or mayne you’re more of a wood-roasted oysters with seaweed butter and fermented chilli kind of guy? Either way, the menu is a gourmand’s delight.
