The New Summer 23 Collection

We're very happy to tell you that the new Summer 2023 collection has arrived, inspired by Oli’s exploration of the countries around the Caribbean Sea and the diverse cultures on the shores that border it. Oli’s recent travels took him from Cuba to Colombia, where he found inspiration in the traditional clothing and cultures of the two nations, as well as the modern day way of life. From the rich  tobacco tones permeating the Partagás cigar factory in Havana, to the vibrant architectural details in Cartagena’s Plaza De Los Cloches, the collection riffs on traditional South American themes to create an aesthetic that is steeped in classic summer silhouettes, cut with a relaxed and contemporary tailored approach.

“I’ve always been fascinated by the menswear culture in Cuba, and have particularly loved the traditional guayabera shirt, with its decorative elements and utility. The shirt has become a national symbol of Cuba, so I’ve tried to honour it by creating a modern western homage to it. I was also bowled over by the colours and architecture of Cartagena on the Caribbean coast of Colombia. I’ve tried to represent the bright sun-hit facades of colonial buildings through the use of slubby textured linens, while incorporating accents of vibrant colours, which is such a facet of Colombian style.”

The collection, which was shot in Cartagena, features an abundance of soft, slubby linen, providing a wonderfully laid-back textural handle throughout the unstructured tailored silhouettes, but also Cuban collar short-sleeve shirts. Pleated linen trousers and shorts in neutral tones are the backdrop for more vibrant ochre checks and geometric stripe motifs in shirts, while super soft Terry cloth has been knitted to create a textural and airy pointelle jersey that underscores the strong tactile direction of the collection.

The palette of the collection features core neutral tones of sand, stone, taupe, cream, and mushroom grey, peppered with bolder accents of rich ochre, sky blue, indigo, and dusty pink. Checks, pinstripe details and horizontal stripes reinforce the geometric references. Organic cotton and linen form the bulk of the fabrications used.
