Not a great deal is known about ZDA, a sneaker and footwear manufacturer that started life in a small town called Partizanske in the 1950s, in what was then Czechoslovakia. It quietly went about its business supplying Eastern Europe with high-quality sneakers until the late 1980s, when it ceased production of its own label to concentrate on white labelling footwear for other brands and various military organisations.
ZDA Climber 2803CPL Grey / Dark Grey
The factory largely flew under the radar of just about everyone, until 2016, when the founder of Japanese brand Eye Found Ltd took a chance trip there and discovered that they still had the original soles and lasts for the discontinued sneakers. With a keen eye for retro styling, he quickly relaunched the brand, promising to stay faithful to the original styles and meticulous handmade processes.
ZDA Climber 2803CPL Navy/Beige
The result is what you see here today - not an homage to retro sneakers but actual real retro sneakers, updated and elevated with soft leather, suede and nylon uppers, and comfortable rubber soles.
ZDA Climber 2803CPL Black/Black
We were very happy to snap up the three colourways of the original 2803CPL model you see here. The retro styling is second-to-none and we love the nylon and suede uppers with the contrast leather details.
In addition to being available on our website, ZDA are also stocked in our Oliver Spencer Lambs Conduit Studio store.
