The Japanese very rarely get it wrong with, well, most things, and this three-way briefcase by Porter Yoshida & Co bag is testament to that. It is a timeless piece that blends day-to-day practicality with vintage-military-influenced design. A trucker style jacket with a premium corduroy finish is a great partnership that I fully get behind. I love the contrast stitch on this, along with the heavy wale cord. I think this is one of the best scarves we have done in a long time. Super-soft wool and cashmere in a really luxe, on-trend colourway. You could buy this for one of the women in your life and they would love it, too. Can't go wrong really!

I'm a nut for knitwear. I don't think a man can own enough good knits. I'm usually a sucker for crews and roll-necks, the big chunky types that you can wear as outerwear. But recently I tried on one of Oli's zip-throughs and I was sold. Wear it zipped up like a classic jumper or undone much like a cardigan. I love the patch colourway version this season as the muted tones will work with everything in your wardrobe (provided you're not a Liberace tribute act). If you're looking for a gift for dad, then the navy version is a no-brainer. Comfortable, classic and a safe colour for the old boy.

Buying something for the old man can often be tricky because I typically get a completely ambivalent response when I ask him if there's anything he wants or likes. "I'll leave it to your fine judgement." Well I'm directing that 'fine judgement' to Oli's shirt collection this season, which features some beautifully soft flannel shirts in comfortable cuts. I particularly love the Eltham overshirt in Evanson cream which is perfect for winter layering. Failing that, the Brook Shirt in Abbingdon Fawn is a really nice number cut in a super-soft organic cotton cloth, and works really well in a tonal look with greens and creams.

For something a bit more substantial, a good piece of tailoring is always hugely appreciated. Our Lawley charcoal fabric is a beautiful check wool that Oli has made into the perennial twosome of Solms jacket and Cowboy jacket. I'm thinking dad and brother here, respectively. We also made a pair of drawstring trousers in the same cloth if you're feeling really generous, but either way, the jackets work really well as separates, too.

If you're stuck on what to buy a guy who's into his casual clothes, a simple white trainer will always fit into his wardrobe. Everyone should own a good pair, even better to have a couple on rotation to keep them looking fresh. Oli's Marton trainer references the classic tennis pump - lo fi, minimalist styling. It looks good on everyone and you can dress it up or down.

The Bermondsey bomber is one of my favourite Oliver Spencer silhouettes and this season Oli has created some great fabric options. The Italian seersucker wool fabric, for example, used to create the Tamworth Midnight style is incredible. It's a classic style bomber jacket made modern with a good fabric and considered details. Then there's the Wickham Oatmeal version, constructed from ecological wool. I can't decide...

I've spent a good part of this year in loungewear. Who hasn't? It's not just for wearing at home - it's so much more versatile than that. These half-zip sweats that Oli has created this year can be used as great layering pieces in outdoorsy looks or of course you can rock them out like pyjamas. Your call.
